Lost in Support: VariCAD

VariCAD is a general purpose 2D/3D Mechanical CAD. It already has a native Linux port for many years and it's  very popular between Linux users.

export SUPPORTED_ENVIRONMENT= Any .rpm or .deb based distro, both 32 and 64bit. Ubuntu, Fedora and OpenSUSE are recommended. VariCAD is the only CAD program for Linux that is available for both 32bit and 64bit architectures.

Installation/Installation Instructions: VariCAD can be installed without problems on a supported Linux distro. Typically no workarounds/hacks are needed for a successful installation.

Active Bugs/Bug Fixes: Typically VariCAD provides 3-4 bug fix releases during its annual major releases. VariCAD, due to its long time Linux support, is the most reliable CAD application on Linux right now.

Linux Related Answers: The VariCAD team has long-time Linux experience and is able to answer correctly any question related to your favorite OS.

Help/Command Reference: VariCAD provides several built-in help resources accessible from the "Help" pull-down menu. Context sensitive help, a quick demonstration guide and flash-based tutorials are some of them. A discussion forum and a contact form are also places where you can ask for help the VariCAD team directly.

Development/Improvements/New Features: VariCAD adds periodically some new functionality. The good news here are that the VariCAD team provides detailed release notes for every new VariCAD release.

Summary: VariCAD is a program with Linux support for over a decade. It's a stable, well documented, reliable and affordable solution for a Linux-based MCAD workstation.
